NYC WITH MUM // VERY CHRISTMASSY & COLD

Yesterday I landed back from a very cold... freezing New York. And my mum tagged along with me! If you couldn’t tell already she loves to come away with me at work! And I do love bringing her!

I was so lucky to swap onto a 2 night JFK. These are very rare, especially this time of year! But I was lucky enough to get one.. as soon as I told my mum she practically begged me to bring her!

The flight was busy, and very full it was a huge risk hoping she will get on, but all was well! As soon as we got to Manhattan we headed straight to Times Square and to the Rockefeller to see the tree, and the Christmas lights show at SAKS. Which I definitely recommend seeing. All free things to do and amazing! We also stopped off at our favourite pizza place “2 Bros”...$2 pizza? Yes please!

Jet lag then started to catch up with us so it was time to head back and get some sleep, rested and ready to be up early the next day! Which we definitely was... 4:30am we was up! However we got to see a gorgeous sunrise from the hotel just by the Empire State, which made being up super early worth it.

On our walk to find breakfast/coffee we went past the Empire State and took in all the views. Whilst freezing our tits off to put it blunty... we came across a really nice organic cafe called fresh & co, that did a whole load of healthy and also vegan foods. I was extremely happy that they did Avo on toast.

I then surprised mum to a trip up the top of the rock - Rockefeller Centre! She was so excited. So was I to be honest, ive been up before but the view really is that breathtaking up there I could go to the top a hundred times and probably still never get bored.. however the people that work up there probably say different!

Last year when I took mum to NYC for christmas I took her up the top of the empire state which was also amazing, but I actually think the view from the Top Of The Rock is much better! And so do a lot of people I spoke too on the flight. I would say go to the top of the rock in the day and empire at night, unless you have time and money to do it both ways then definitely do that!

We went up early in the morning, 8:30/9 just after it opened, purely because the skies were still pretty clear through the broken clouds, and it was forecast to snow later that day! Which it really bloody did..So we went for a walk down 5th avenue going in and out of the shops, on our way to central park

The rest of the day was absolutely FREEZING we was all literally slipping and sliding all over the place trying to get back to our hotel, we did pop into macys to warm up.. mainly in the make up section of course. But then the rest of our evening was quite chilled out, saw central park and had dinner at Red Lobster. We was so jet lagged and tired the second night after miles and miles of walking around the city so we then called it a night had face masks back at the room a couple drinks and then bed. Ready to be up early again for our last day!

We walked down to Jack's Wife Freda for breakfast which is about a 40 minute walk from times square down 5th avenue. I found this place by instagram and was so impressed. For starters it is so instagramable and pretty, but the food is also so good!

After this I then realised we were only 5 minutes away from the Friends apartment building! I was so excited about this and of course dragged my mum on another walk over to find it, inner fan girl in me was so happy, its on Bedford Street NY if anyone is interested!

As we wasnt too far away we then decided to jump in a yellow cab and go to the world trade centre, every time im here it always blows my mind and makes me emotional. Especially with the job I have, how much of a risk every day at work really is... and how important it is to wish people a safe flight.

It was then time to head back to the hotel, last minute op into the shops, grab some more pizza because.... pizza in new york is just the best pizza ever!? And fuel for the night flight ahead! Maybe not the best fuel though... never mind!

And then time to shower get ready and go home, nice little 6 hour flight home. Unfortunately we had really bad turbulence pretty much from the moment we took off till we landed back at heathrow. This did give us a good push landing at 6:20 in the morning! But did make a lot of people feel sick, which was NOT fun.

That is me DONE with New York for a while now, as much as I love it there.. it is bloody cold and I'm not really a Heathrow girl... im a LGW London Gatwick gal, and so happy to be back there for the whole of January. Well fingers crossed the whole of Jan, I do a have a 4 day block of standby at the end of the month... But the rest of my roster is looking very nice, and hot!
